Australia's Oldest Internet Diamond Merchant

Sale! 1ct E/SI2 Diamond – $1350

A common question we get is why are our 1 carat diamonds more expensive than other 1 carat diamonds from another jeweller.

The old adage of “You get what you pay for” certainly rings true in this instance.

The fact of the matter is that we could sell you a 1 carat, colour E, SI2 diamond for only $1350 including GST and shipping within Australia. Pretty good deal huh? Well, not until you actually see it! You see this stone, even though this may even be given a “Good” cut grade by DCLA, it has been described as “hazy” and generally looking like frozen spit. And you can forget about GIA certification this diamond doesn’t even have a certificate!

Given that there are at least 20 main factors that determine the price of a diamond, there are some fairly easy ways consumers can make sure that they are in fact getting a good deal, including:

  • Looking at prices on the internet. This will give you a rough guide as to the prices and price differences of diamonds. Be aware that buying at a retail store, or at any physical shop will be a bit more expensive than the internet.
  • If you see what you think is a good deal, examine it further, with a loupe, Ideal-Scope, or even an independent appraiser (one that doesn’t sell diamonds).

It is important to remember that buying online will always be cheaper, stone for stone, than a full retail store. That said, the difference in quality and overall experience in what is typically found online and retail stores varies greatly.
