With around 550 members across Australia, The National Council of Jewellery Valuers has established itself as Australia's premier organisation for jewellery valuers.
Every state in Australia has a separate division. This page lists the contacts for each state.
Whilst there are different categories of membership, to become a full member, one must:
- Certificate IV in Gemmological Studies, Diploma of Gemmology or equivalent
- Practical Diamond Grading
- 5 years relevant trade experience
- Jewellery and Gemstone Valuation. Or;
Ongoing Membership Costs
As Haighs Jewellers point out, members must commit to ongoing education as well as costly professional indemnity insurance. This is meant to ensure accurate and up to date valuations.
Code of Ethics
The NCJV has a code of ethics covering not only honesty, integrity and diligence, but also improvement and skill and knowledge.
