In Australia at least, foreign transactions done on most credit cards, attract an average of 1.5%, plus an extra 1% on top of that.
Now we’re not sure of the situation in New Zealand, but in any case, having a foreign transaction on your credit card is nowhere near as good as having it charged in your own currency.
